Good weather in the garden season has lured more customers to Hornbach’s hardware stores. The result is a strong increase in turnover in the first quarter.
In the first quarter, the group registered a turnover increase from 5.7 percent to 1.9 billion euros and the Hardware Store Division from 5.8 percent to 1.8 billion euros, as the German group announced on Tuesday. The adjusted operational result (EBIT) rose by 10.4 percent to 161.7 million euros. It was “extremely satisfactory” that the customer frequency has increased by 4.2 percent.
Moreover, customers would have put more in their shop baskets. However, the consumption retention for larger projects is still noticeable.
2025/26 Result awaited the level of the previous year
Despite the lively annual start, the Board of Directors made its prediction for 2025/26. “There are still indisputableities during the year, which we have calculated in our plans and the prospects,” said Hornbach Baumarkt AG, Erich Harsch. According to this, the company strives for stagnating or somewhat rising turnover and an adapted EBIT at the level of the previous year.
The trend to do-it-yourself in Corona Pandemic had given the hardwary industry bubbling income. After that, high energy prices and inflation ran the consumer mood of customers.
