The government approves a new aid plan of 450 million euros and guarantees in a decree before August 2 not to operate at a loss
The Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management announced an agreement with the carriers on Thursday to guarantee that they do not operate at a loss, as they have been asking since March. Other measures are included, such as €450 million to repeat the direct aid to trucks, buses and taxis already delivered last March. In this way, the government grants 1,250 euros per truck, 950 euros per bus, 500 euros per van and 300 euros per light vehicle to taxis, VTC and ambulances. The minister, Raquel Sánchez, appreciates this announcement.
– Does this agreement comply with the agreements made?
-In addition to direct support, another of our commitments was the adoption of a text as a bill to apply the principles of the Food Chain Act to road freight transport, to ensure that carriers can operate at a fair price. Not only have we delivered on our commitment, but we are moving forward because we believe this measure cannot wait. That is why we will deal with it urgently for the next approval in the Council of Ministers before 2 August. Then he goes to parliament.
– Do you then exclude future mobilizations of the sector?
-The main requirement of the Platform was precisely to ensure that the work was carried out at a fair price and not at a loss. And that is exactly what we have achieved in this agreement. We understand that these demands and expectations are met with the bill and that we will therefore certainly ensure that social peace with the transport sector, which is so important.
