Exercise rises – New bus lines are going on in a lot of driving

In the middle of the heated political debate through the financing of the Burgenland (VBB) Transport companies (VBB), the official figures on the use of the new bus lines and the call collection taxis Burst. Compared to 2024, even more passengers use the public system.

In the first half of the year, nearly 790,000 passengers already traveled with the VBB lines, the bark has so far been used by 87,500 customers. The national councilor Heinrich Dorner refers to this data, very satisfied: “The continuous, strong increase, which will record from season to season, shows that the path taken is excellently accepted by the population and that we are on our way to success.” For comparison: 1.15 million passengers used the VBB lines during 2024 and the bark was 114,000. A significant increase has already emerged in 2025.

Service is very popular
On average, 4,000 passengers per week online B14 between Oberwart, Oberpullendorf, Mattersburg and Eisenstadt, the heart of the new audience. “This service, which ensures a fast, comfortable connection between the suburbs of the district, is very popular,” Dorner notes. The bus connections from Südburgenland to Vienna and return, which were expanded in the fall 2023, were also heavily visited.

Different alternatives
More than 12,000 passengers use these publications every week. The B9 Oberwart-Pinkafeld-Wiener Neustadt and the B20 from Eisenstadt to Wiener Neustadt are available as alternative offers, each of the 2,000 passengers, each placed in the same period. According to the State Council of Transport, the customer frequency on lines B1 and B2, which have been driven from the southern districts in Burgenland to Graz for four years, is constantly good.

“As a feeder for the bus lines, we ensure a national offer of public transport thanks to Bast,” emphasizes Dorner. He describes the basis of VBB at the beginning of 2021 as “Directional and Spot On”.

“Economics confirms”
The current objection to the Ebenfurth -Lus shows how long the implementation of rail projects is. Critics who denounce alleged money problems can prevent Dorner: “The VBB work costs overview, the financing is carried out by the State, the Otregion Transport Association and a small part of the proceeds of tickets. The economy was confirmed by an international auditor.”

Bicycles are now allowed on board
Good news at the end for all cyclists: after a bike online B2 between Graz and Südburgenland, this offer has been extended to a popular route. Now the B9 bus line between Oberwart and Wiener Neustadt is also equipped accordingly to be able to transport bicycles. “New, optimized driving and circulation plans create extra flexibility,” adds Dorner.
