You can always see empty business buildings in the city center of Linz. At the same time, digital advertising boards form the image of the road-road-with advertisements for a large online trade giant. This combination offers discussions and criticism, currently mainly by ÖVP City Party Manager Michael Obrovsky.
If you ask Country Road Strikers what is bothering them on the Linz -Winkelmijl, you have heard the same thing for many years: “that far too many business buildings are empty.” And regardless of whether the subjective feeling of the Linz is misleading or not, it is ultimately what is important. While a vacancy manager should take care of the countless gaps in the future, as reported, many national people from the Landweg want the city to be committed to its traders.
“Click yourself up” instead of “don’t drive away”
But in the past, especially in rural areas, there were campaigns such as “Do not continue, buy in the city,” says Linz apparently “click yourself, order at Amazon”. Digital advertisements currently cause excitement for the online gigantic Amazon throughout the city area, but especially around the Landweg. The Digital Citylights are managed by the Werbering, a subsidiary of 99.2% of the W 2 Beteiligungswaltungs GmbH, which in turn is 100% subsidiary of the Spö Private Foundation L36.
“A completely absurd approach”
For the VP City Party Manager Michael Obrovsky incomprehensible, he criticizes the advertisements that is harmful to the city center: “Although Linz has to deal with more and more vacancies, Spös change advertisements for online giant Amazon in the city center.” This is a completely absurd approach, with which, according to Obrovsky, all efforts to attract the city would be undermined.
