From teaching to retiring in the same company? Are you joking? Are you serious when you say so! The times of lifelong loyalty to an employer are over. The Austrian working atmosphere index shows that young employees in particular want great ambitions to rise, change, go new ways. But what drives? And why do the elderly continue to stay? The results are brand new – and a wake -up call for bosses!
According to the survey, one fifth of all employees strive for a higher position. The urge for the boys is even stronger: a third of 16 to 35-year-olds want to go up! The desire for an internal change in this age group is also considerably more pronounced at 20 percent than for all employees (13 percent).
Boy wants more – older people prefer to stay
But while the boys are impatient, the elderly desire stability: about half of all employees want to leave everything the same with a view to position and business. It is even 70 percent for more than 45 year olds!
Gastronomy and tourism: every fourth wants to get out!
A sixth of the employees would like to change the operations, even the job every tenth. Especially flagrant: 23 percent dream of a new start in gastronomy and tourism! Stress, poor payment, irregular working hours? The reasons are clear.
Stress, busy, no perspectives: why many are dissatisfied
If you want to change, you often have good reasons: 36 percent of the dissatisfied suffering from extreme time pressure, about 30 percent under psychological stress. According to their own information, each fourth potential company or professional exchanger works under health-damaging circumstances- for those who want to stay, this is only 10 percent! There are also spontaneous services that destroy free time.
No wonder that satisfaction is in the basement: only half of the potential changes are happy with her work. With those who want to stay, it is no less than 88 percent! Moreover, the change of change increases, the dissatisfied employees with further education and progress, with the relationship with colleagues and with the leadership style of superiors.
If you want to keep employees, you must offer something
The message is clear: companies that want to bind talents must ensure good working conditions. Honest wages, development opportunities, healthy working atmosphere – otherwise it will soon be said: day, boss! Because in times of a shortage of trained employees, employees have the choice. And they use them.
