The unions announce new 24-hour strikes Monday to Thursday from August 8 to January 7
The conflict between the workers and Ryanair is far from easing, but is intensifying. On the same day as the eleventh day of the strike of the Spanish cabin crew (TCP) of the Irish airline that caused a large number of flight cancellations and delays, the unions USO and SITCPLA, representing this group, decided not to back down. and declare new strike days in the middle of summer.
Specifically, the unions, in consultation with the workers, have decided to declare 24-hour strikes every week from Monday to Thursday from August 8 to January 7, 2023, both inclusive.
The workers’ organizations denounced in a statement on Wednesday that Ryanair has not made “the slightest attempt” to approach them, on the contrary, they have indicated that it has publicly stated that it refuses to enter into a dialogue with the representatives who chosen by its crew members. , for what they have been forced to continue the strike and proclaim new days, listening to the workers.
The unions demand that the airline resume negotiations on a collective agreement “which includes decent working conditions and Spanish legislation for its employees”. They need 22 working days of annual leave; 14 statutory holidays; granting the rights of legal guardianship, specification and reduction of working time; the payment of salary levels prior to the pandemic, as the National Court has already ruled in its verdict; the end of the hiring of workers through the illegal posting of workers, also condemned by the Court, and respect for the legitimate exercise of the right to strike by workers.
In addition, they demand the immediate reinstatement of the 11 workers fired during previous calls in June and July in support of the constitutional right to strike, as well as the suspension and filing of all sanction files open to about a hundred workers due to previous strikes.
