Aviation workers will stop from August 28 to September 6 to demand better working conditions
Traveling by plane this summer is more complicated than usual. Next to the strikes of Ryanair cabin crew and Easyjet pilots are those of the Iberia Express crewmembers (TCP) who have called a 10-day strike for their workers at the Madrid base to demand better working conditions.
The USO union said in a statement that the strikes, calling for 517 airline personnel, will last from August 28 to September 6. The goal is “to block the negotiations on the company’s TCP II CLA”. In his words, since December 2021, when negotiations began, the company has maintained “no interest in improving the working conditions of the group, against any union proposal and offering alternatives far from reality.”
The workers demand an annual wage review according to the CPI during the term of the agreement to adjust wages to price increases, after they freeze wages for seven years, they prepare the USO. In addition, they demand a 6.5% pay increase corresponding to 2021 for all levels; the creation of two salary levels with an increase of 11% and a 4% increase, as well as a bonus of 24 months of seniority for all employees of the group and the homogenization of the transport bonus and the sales commission on board in all categories of TCP.
This strike comes in addition to Ryanair’s cabin crew, which will stop working from Monday to Thursday until January 2023, and those of Easyjet’s pilots, after the airline’s TCP called off their strikes after reaching an agreement with the company. .
