Date:

Miguel Angel Cerdan. Institutional Delegate of Iberdrola in the Region of Murcia

The company Iberdrola is concerned and concerned about the sustainability of the planet, which is why it has become a major player in the fight against climate change, through actions such as environmental awareness among the younger population. Of these, their collaboration stands out in THE TRUTH’s school competition, ‘This is green’, which will remain open until October 24th.

Why is Iberdrola actively bringing sustainable values to the younger population?

-Because education is an essential factor in the increasingly urgent fight against climate change. Knowledge related to this phenomenon helps young people understand and address the impacts of global warming, encourages them to change their behavior and helps them adapt to what is already a global emergency. We believe that environmental education for children should start in school, as the fate of the planet is in their hands and it is important that they learn from an early age to rationalize resources and contribute their grain of sand in the fight against climate change. At Iberdrola, we promote the EducaClima website (www.educaclima.com) to educate the youngest about the causes, consequences and consequences of climate change, so that they understand the vulnerability of nature to human pressure and understand the role that energy and mobility play as a solution to this global challenge.

Iberdrola is committed to renewable energy as a strategy for sustainable growth. What goals has the company achieved since the start of this energy revolution?

-Iberdrola began to focus on renewable energy more than two decades ago as a fundamental pillar on which to build a sustainable and competitive business model that creates value for society. The work done during these 20 years betting on clean energy has led us to become a global leader in renewable energy.

We believe in the energy transition based on renewable energy, smart grids, large-scale energy storage and a digital transformation that allows us to offer the most advanced products and services to our customers so that they can be part of this transition, for example, in aspects related to sustainable mobility and self-consumption.

Iberdrola is an important driver to position the Murcia region as one of the most important green hydrogen hubs in Europe. What are the strengths of your regional project?

– We are promoting the creation of a green hydrogen corridor in the Mediterranean which is considering the construction of a hydroelectric power station in Murcia that will allow to produce and supply heavy transport with this source of renewable energy and thus move towards an increasingly more sustainable mobility and emission-free. In the field of transport, we are also developing, together with Disfrimur, the implementation of an innovative charging infrastructure with very high power for electric trucks. We have already started the first loading tests of this type of vehicle in ultra-fast charging stations that we are already running with the aim of creating the first 100% electric Mediterranean heavy road transport corridor between the Region of Murcia and the Valencian Community.
