Date:

The Newtownabbey singer is hoping her new single will prove a “light at the end of the tunnel” for those struggling with their mental health.

Padraig Brown, originally from North Belfast, created his new song and music video in NI to tackle mental health issues, which he first experienced.

The 28-year-old singer has followed in the footsteps of her father Jim Brown with a passion for music, which is one of the most popular podiums in the world.

Speaking on Belfast Live, Padrej said: “Music has always been in our family – there are a lot of singers, so I’ve always had a passion for music, but I was only 18 before I started singing.

“I was addicted to gambling and used music. I have always taken mental health very seriously, especially here in Northern Ireland where it is a very big problem.

“This is where I discovered my first album hobby comes from.”

He appreciates his father for inspiring him and helping him release his single “Titanic Hope”, which was produced by Eamon Karan at Dairy Attic Studio.

“Titanic in English means ‘huge’, so the song can mean great hope, but it’s also connected to the Belfast background.

The song itself is about suicide and emphasizes what a person with dark thoughts can be like at that moment, but the song itself seems to speak of hope.

“The video tries to tell a story at the end of the tunnel, it might be light, because I got my partner and son involved – my life has improved and that’s what I want the song to show,” he explained. .

Padraig wanted Belfast’s background to be strongly featured in the music video to highlight the realities of Northern Ireland’s mental health and how close these issues are to home.

He continued, “I hope that when people see it, people realize that even if you find yourself in a really bad situation in your life, everything can get better and you can deal with it.

“In my personal experience, I wouldn’t be someone who would want to run to the doctor or get in the way. I have some hidden things, but my music made me want to move on.”

“This is the real message that comes from my heart.”

He hopes to continue using music to reach others who are suffering as much as possible.

During the lockdown, Padrij and his father Jim made their pledge to NI Children’s Hospice, and were singing online every weekend to raise nearly $11,000,000 for the charity.

To sell each of his new music records, Padraig intends to donate a percentage of the money to local mental health charities in Northern Ireland that work across the country to break down the stigma surrounding mental health.

He added: “I felt using music was a good way to highlight these issues, and after the last two years we’ve all been through, mental health in Northern Ireland is really struggling.”

“I love singing songs that people can relate to and remind them of something in their life.”
