Audiovisual. The short film ‘I fished’ is the first joint project of José Luis Pallarés and Juan Alcaraz
His references are Monty Python, the Marx Brothers, Tuesday and Thirteen, Javier Fesser and José Luis Cuerda. A little hint to imagine what the viewer will see in ‘He Pescado’, the first Mostacho Brothers short film made by the Murcians Juan Alcaraz and José Luis Pallarés. A creation that participates in Notodofilmfest, a festival that serves as a showcase for young audiovisual makers via the internet.
“If we are clear about one thing, it is that our short film may or may not be liked, but it does not leave anyone indifferent,” explains Juan Alcaraz of a creation shot in the Asterix bar in Murcia for which she gave the actors Juanma have had Cifuentes and Pedro Angel Roca.
‘I have fished’ is the first joint creation of their comedy alliance Mostacho Brothers. “It’s simple, we both have mustaches and on top of that, the word has hidden that Murcian ‘acho’ that defines us,” explains Alcaraz. Both met on the set of a Murcian movie, yet to be released, and their relationship is “love at first sight”.
“We made pineapples and started creating. In fact, we’ve written more stories before,” says Pallarés, who describes Mostacho Brothers’ humor as “realistic surrealism, as it is surrealism, but done seriously. Our two characters don’t take it lightly, they take it seriously, which adds a touch of drama.”
A self-production that opens the season to this particular universe of comedy. An outrageous 3.30 minute confession that can be enjoyed on the notodofilm.es website and the festival’s YouTube channel.
José Luis Pallarés was mostly connected to the audiovisual world through the camera, having worked as a cameraman for television and various production companies. After ‘He Pesca’, a project that both have a lot of confidence in “although we know that humor sometimes doesn’t have enough recognition compared to drama”, says Pallarés, and that they hope to move to different festivals, they are taking a firm step that clears the way for future creations.
For his part, Juan Alcaraz, director, screenwriter and founder of the production company Oliva Films, currently living in Malaga, already has directing experience and has, among others, made the solidarity short film ‘Caballito de mar’ about the Mar Menor, and ‘La casica de papel’. In addition, with the short films ‘Dentro’ and ‘Vecinos’, it was a finalist at the Notodofilmfest in the 2019 and 2020 editions. «We are very happy with the result. The team is excited. It’s a fresh and different comedy made in the spirit to make people laugh.” Concentrated humor for a short break.
