After searching for the best cook, seamstress or teacher of the reform, the production company Shine Iberia (Banijay Group), which is behind such remarkable successes as “MasterChef”, the most watched program on TVE, gives a new twist the ‘talent show’ genre to find the best hairdresser in the country. Under the guidance of Italian stylist Rossano Ferretti, he is preparing ‘HairStyle’, a new format in which ten hair professionals compete to win a cash prize worth €150,000 and the keys to their own fully equipped beauty salon.

The project has just opened its “casting” in Spain and will arrive in 2023 on a yet to be determined platform, as there are several interested parties, the audiovisual company said. The program will have its production hub with a large set in Madrid, where the own versions of four other countries will also be recorded: Italy, the United States, Mexico and Brazil.

For this new bet, the production company Ferretti, considered the ‘master of hair’ in the sector. Hollywood stars, supermodels and royalty have visited the luxurious salons around the world. Reese Witherspoon, Dakota Johnson, Anna Wintour, Jennifer Lawrence and Kate and Pippa Middleton, among others, are some of the popular figures who have passed through his hands. Now he comes to ‘HairStyle’ with “excitement” because, in his words, the hairdresser’s image has always been undervalued.

“Nobody wants their kids to become hairdressers,” admits Ferretti, explaining that with this format they want to create the first “talent” in the industry with “a completely different light” of the industry to give it “value and voice”. “When I got into fashion, at 20, we were the last ones in the car,” he says. “My job will be to use the keys to my success and share them with the planet to inspire today’s professionals and the new generations,” adds the businessman.

“We have ‘talent show’ experience, but we missed the hairdresser,” explains Shine Iberia CEO Macarena Rey, highlighting Rosano’s “exceptional” style that led him to worldwide success, citing the so-called “invisible cut”. that personalizes each customer. The directive points out that there will be a co-host with the Italian and that the six episodes of the program will include a series of tests of skill, technique and creativity to find the best. “Hairdressers have a strong ego and personality, we like working with them,” he continues, warning that the contestants will have to face the character and personality of the new bet’s protagonist. However, Rey points out that the purpose of the format is to give visibility to people who can be very good and “have a lot of talent”, but an opportunity does not come to them: “Here you have it and it can change your life .” live to fulfill your dream”.

Rosano will also be joined by a renowned stylist to share judging duties throughout the season and decide together which contestant should exit the competition in each episode. In addition, the ‘talent show’ will include the visit of well-known invited celebrities, and the participants, all already professional hairdressers, will have to prepare bridal hairstyles, looks to shine on red carpets and solutions for damaged or unruly hair.

In this way, the producer Shine Iberia adds to its extensive catalog a new talent program that is introduced in hairdressers and follows in the wake of other formats such as ‘Tabatha, I need you!’, where the stylist Tabatha Coffey puts faces at the center of beauty distress that need your wisdom to get back on track. The BBC also ran the reality show ‘Hair’ for two seasons, which sought to find the best amateur hairdresser in the UK.

Since 2012, this production company has been the creator of some of the biggest hits of the decade on the small screen, both in Spain and Portugal. The star program is ‘MasterChef’, with its three versions – ‘amateur’, ‘junior’ and ‘celebrity’-, but later came other formats such as ‘Prodigios’ or ‘Maestros de las costuras’, which were canceled by TVE this year season after five editions. In addition, it produces the fiction ‘Bosé’ for Paramount+, based on the life of the singer, although it is currently unknown when it will be released in our country.
