LGAM, in collaboration with the National Opera Theater of Moldova, presents an excellent piece from the Italian repertoire
The Romea Theater organizes this Thursday at 8 pm the performance of the opera ‘Tosca’ by Puccini. The LGAM (Leonor Gago Artist Management) company, in collaboration with the Maria Biesu National Opera Theater of Moldova, presents this production of one of the most outstanding pieces of the Italian verista repertoire.
A story that combines love, intrigue, freedom, death, sacrifice and passion in a framework of intense drama, in which deceit and doubt are more than present. Divided into three acts, the play is set in the city of Rome on the same day Napoleon defeats Austria at the Battle of Marengo. The first act opens with the escape of Angelotti, proconsul of the Republic of Rome, imprisoned after the fall of the Republic.
The opera, inspired by the drama of the same name by Victorien Sardou, premiered with great success at the Costanzi Theater in Rome on January 14, 1900, in the presence of Queen Margherita.
Thanks to the beauty of the music and the difficulty of the arias, ‘Tosca’ has become one of the most important operas in the repertoire. These include ‘E lucevan le stelle’, ‘Vissi d’arte vissi d’amore’ and ‘Te deum’. With music by Giacomo Puccini, Giuseppe Giacosa and Luigi Illica, the libretto is based on the work of the same name by Victorien Sardou.
Under the musical direction of José Escandell and the artistic direction of Leonor Gago, the Romea stage will feature soloists Giorgi Meladze (Mario Cavaradossi, tenor), Fernando Álvarez (Baron Scarpia, baritone), Helena Gallardo (Floria Tosca, soprano), Cristian Diaz (Cesare Angelotti, bass), Ángel Castilla (Spoletta, tenor), Armando del Hoyo (El sacristán, bass) and Álex Guillén (Sciarrone, bass), accompanied by the company’s choir and orchestra.
Tickets for 20, 30 and 40 euros can be purchased at the theater box office and on the website teatroromea.es.
