CBBC’s Nova Jones has returned in two more series

CBBC singer Nova Jones has received the green light for two more series, with filming already beginning in Belfast.

The adventure series, from Northern Ireland for JAM Media, follows the exploits of Nova and her crew aboard the Jefferson spacecraft.

Sarah Mueller, Head of Children’s Acquisitions and Commissioning at BBC 7+, says, “Following the success of the first series, which aired last year on CBBC and iPlayer, we are thrilled to bring two more series of this powerful musical comedy to viewers.

“In this new series, we plan to expand the songs to give viewers more opportunities with Nova’s amazing performance.

The series was filmed in Belfast and funded by Screen and Screen Ireland Northern Ireland and co-produced by JAM Media for CBBC and RTÉ.

“The series has truly impressed British and Irish audiences and we look forward to partnering with the studio to bring Nova Jones to a global audience,” said Jon Rice, CEO of JAM Media.

“From her self-esteem, sense of fashion, and pop songs, Nova has a unique potential to speak to children around the world in this surreal and fun series.”

The series was created by Helen Serafinovich (Homeland) with lead writer Andrew Elard (Writer for Miranda, Revelators, and Red Dwarf). Original songs written by Matthew Graham and Jessica Hammond (Konica).

The second series is expected to be released later this year and the third series in 2023.
