Open letter in Tyrol – “Seventh resettlement” – Ukrainians defend themselves

Date:

In the future, the pen will no longer be available in Schwaz’s Tyroolean district as an accommodation for refugees from Ukraine, as the “Krone” reported. Now the refugees are housed who are there and want to prevent their move.

In an open letter to Governor Anton Mattle and the public lawyer Doris Winkler-Hofer, the Ukrainians complain about their suffering. “We are worried about them. Many of us have been forced several times. For some families, the seventh (!) Settlement is now on hands,” says it in the beginning. And further: “At the beginning of August we have to be moved again – to a so -roasted container village under a bridge in Kufstein, directly on busy roads and railway paths.”

“Accommodation absolutely unsuitable”
The affected criticizes that the planned accommodation is absolutely unsuitable. “Small rooms, no private sanitary facilities, no privacy, no safe environment. These conditions are contradicted to international humanitarian standards and basic rights of refugees, women and children.” The women are also worried about their children: “They lose their school again, their friends, their usual environment. That means enormous emotional stress.”

Stop the required resettlement
The demands on LH Anton Mattle are clear and urgent: “Stop the planned relocation of the Ukrainian families from the abbey. Explain the container village in Kufstein to be unsuitable for the accommodation of women and children. Allow us to stay in the abbey where our children go to school and have found a piece of stability.”

Finally, the affected ones emphasize that they would not ask for privileges. “We ask for proper treatment and compliance with the European values that Tyrol and Austria represent. We don’t want to be a replacement for other refugees – we want protection, no containers.”
