Swiss tightrope walker Freddy Nock has died at the age of 59. He was a multiple record holder and most recently performed in Circus Roncalli. The circumstances of his death are still unclear.
Nock came from a traditional circus family that had been active in the canton of Aargau since 1860. The activities continued until 2019. Freddy Nock balanced on the tightrope as a small child, later participated in circus festivals and set several world records. For example, he rode over mountain railway cables in St. Moritz and on Säntnis in Switzerland.
Cross Lake Zurich and the Zugspitze with a high rope
In 2010 he crossed Lake Zurich on a high rope over a length of 900 meters and a year later he climbed Germany’s highest mountain, the Zugspitze, using a support cable from the glacier railway.
He had announced a new high wire and world record attempt for this year. He wanted to balance over a rope in a hot air balloon without safety at an altitude of more than 5,000 meters. He did not mention the location.
In addition to his stunts, Nock worked as a motivational speaker on topics such as dealing with anxiety. The circumstances of his death are not yet known.
