After almost 20 years in the Universal Museum Joanneum, the head of the restoration, Paul-Bernhard Eipper, will retire. He worked as a detective through the huge art depot. He made discoveries that shake the art world – and drove the prices to millions.
Paul-Bernhard Eipper turns the key and open the door. “Art sleeps here,” says the head of the restoration of the Universal Museum Joanneum. He has been coming in for almost 20 years and from the art depot of the Styrian State Museum, and yet it seems that he was introduced in this special place for the first time. 1.7 million objects are stored here – including works of art from all periods, from medieval altar images for contemporary art.
