‘Estrellas de la danza’ brings members of Dutch National Ballet and the CND to El Batel

Date:

The Grand Christmas-Estrellas de la Danza Gala that Cartagena is organizing on December 27 is under the artistic direction of José Carlos Martínez, director of the ballet of the National Opera of Paris. This show, for which the last tickets are already on sale (from 20 to 40 euros), takes place at the El Batel Auditorium with a cast made up of members of the Spanish National Ballet (Sara Arévalo and Carlos Sánchez) and the company Nacional de Danza ( Aída Badía and Aleix Mañé) and principal dancers and soloists of the Croatian operas (Iva Vitic Gameiro and Guilherme Gameiro Alves) and Bucharest (Ada González and Ionuț Diniță).

The show will consist of eleven pieces, including pas de deux from well-known ballet repertoires, along with other pieces of different styles, such as Spanish dance or contemporary language. The artistic director of the show, José Carlos Martínez, will perform the Scarlatti pas de dos, from the production ‘Les enfants du paradis’ (2008) for which he won the Benois de la Danse Award -the ‘Ballet Oscar’-, played by Iván Delgado del Río and Aída Badía. From ‘Giselle’, premiered at the Paris Opera in 1841, with original choreography by Jean Coralli and Jules Perrot, Martínez couldn’t resist reading the classic, which premiered in Zagreb in 2022. The second pas de deux, choreographed by Martínez, is performed by the principal dancers of the Croatian company Iva Vitic Gameiro, who will play the long-suffering protagonist, and Guilherme Gameiro Alves, in Albrecht’s shoes. In the second part, the Croatian and Portuguese perform ‘Near This’ by the Serbian choreographer Leo Mujic.

Ada González, soloist of the Bucharest National Opera, will perform two classics from the repertoire: ‘El Corsario’ (1899) and the pas de deux of Act II of ‘Swan Lake’ (1895), partnering the soloist of the Bucharest National Opera have Opera Ionut Diniță.

Iván Delgado del Río, principal dancer in the productions of the former étoile of the Paris Opera Karl Paquette, sheds light on his facet as a choreographer in ‘Las coles’.
