12 unforgettable concerts of 2022 in the region of Murcia

Date:

Memorable live shows. We remember a series of performances that made us tremble with emotion, giving us different moments of music in its purest form.

While not ranked best to worst, far from it, Wilco’s was the region’s most memorable concert of the year. A show where the band under the direction of the great Jeff Tweedy practically discussed their entire discography, allowing us to travel to the center of masterpieces such as ‘Yankee Hotel Foxtrot’, ‘Summerteeth’ or a ‘Cruel country’ that came as a novelty and became ultimately a classic. A five-star repertoire. An excellent gang. A super concert.
Key moment: ‘Impossible Germany’ and that great solo from a giant named Nels Cline.

His mouth fell open in amazement, and expectations exploded with every note. This is how Jacob Collier’s concert was experienced on the last day of La Mar de Músicas, a festival that found in this young genius a dream accomplice to make the twenty-seventh edition unforgettable. An overwhelming display of talent through its beauty, vitality and constant display of virtuosity and sensitivity. Often.
Key moment: Her voice and her heart continue to tremble as she recalls the beautiful version of ‘Lean on me’.

There are many questionable things when it comes to analyzing the Bizarrap phenomenon from a strictly musical point of view, but his performance at this year’s edition of the FAN FUTURA FEST left behind an indisputable truth: the audience is on his side. And the truth is that it was impossible to resist the huge spectacle delivered on a tray at dawn by the Argentine DJ, producer and composer in his early twenties. We continue to dance in memory.
Key moment: Doubt offends. The energy that is released with ‘Quédate’ is nothing short of impressive.

It was playing it safe, but that shouldn’t detract from the value and merit of the wonderful concert Ariel Rot and Kiko Veneno gave us as part of the 52nd San Javier International Theatre, Music and Dance Festival. We are talking about giants of Spanish music history who shared classics with humility and generosity. And on top of that, they invited Maryan Frutos and Crudo Pimento to the celebration. Everything is fine.
Key moment: ‘Salta’ and ‘Volando voy’, a finale with Rot, Veneno and guests who give everything.

Few concerts in the Region in 2022 have been anticipated with such enthusiasm and impatience. And few concerts held in the Murcia region in 2022 were as round, exciting, emotional and brilliant as those of Viva Suecia in the Plaza de Toros.
Key moment: ‘Días amables’, a song that always touches and moves with the power of the first time.

Sting’s formula to completely conquer Murcia on a stifling August night was as simple as it was effective: he combined the best of his time at the helm of The Police with the classics of his solo career. Risks? No. surprises? Zero. Concert level? At the height of the honor plate.
Key moment: The great first duo formed by ‘Message in a bottle’ with ‘Englishman in New York’.

No more promises. Arde Bogotá has long been an exciting reality that does not stop growing. An evolution based on a repertoire without gaps and a live show that, believe me, incites addiction. And there’s a great example of their performance at Warm Up 2022. With the intricate task of opening the first day of the festival, the folks from Cartagena topped every bar with a concert that was a rush and revelation. glorious.
Key moment: The unbeatable closer with the songs ‘Exoplaneta’, ‘Antiaéreo’ and ‘Abajo’.

Words abound. Joan Manuel Serrat could be written in this space set aside for the memory of his formidable concert in the city of Murcia and it would be, or should be, more than enough. However, it is not convenient to miss the opportunity to return, even if by ink, to a night full of tenderness, beauty, poetry and chants underlined with gold in the history of our music. It was part of his farewell tour, but those of us who were there still haven’t said goodbye.
Key moment: One by one, the themes have been rescued from that masterpiece entitled ‘Mediterranean’.

To avoid the (inevitable) accusations of exaggerated or too pompous statements, I give the floor to Guille Milkyway herself, the genius behind the musical project of La Casa Azul: «I think this is the best concert we have had so far given in the region of Murcia». A statement in the middle of a show that not only justified the first edition of Hermosa Fest alone, but also made autumn look like the brightest spring of all time.
Key moment: The festive tribute to some legendary artists with ‘Tonight they only sing for me’.

Each time Chucho Valdés let himself go. Each time, he and the piano communicated through the most complex melodies, the most seductive rhythms, and the most captivating elegance. Each time, his extraordinary bond rose to infinity. Each time, the silence was replaced by a standing ovation. Every time we remember Chucho touring Cartagena in 2022, we will undoubtedly feel full of happiness and music.
Key moment: ‘Lorena’s Tango’, a precious number that combines the fervor and delicacy of Maestro Valdés.

From the first note, Juan Luis Guerra and his 4.40, a group of musicians in a permanent state of inspiration, turn a crowded and burning arena upside down. An authentic party that offered just the right moments to take a breather, transforming into a roller coaster of emotions, choruses ready to be sung to hoarseness and impossible choreographies. More than a concert, we’re talking about one of those happy places to return to when a storm is brewing.
Key moment: The fiery conclusion of the party with ‘La bilirrubina’ and the immaculate beauty of ‘Bubbles of love’.

For those of us who love British pop/rock to the core, Miles Kane was a gift on the latest edition of Warm Up. A concert full of energy, charisma, personality, great guitars, ballads with a knot in the heart and even a version of the Beatles’ legendary ‘Don’t let me down’ to complete the masterpiece. He may never reach the popularity of other contemporaries, but good old Miles is one of us.
Key moment: The epic ‘Don’t forget who you are’, the song that gives its name to their most complete album to date.
