Journalist, creator and director of television programs Sergi Schaaff, promoter of programs such as “Saber y ganar” and “El tiempo es oro,” passed away early Tuesday in Barcelona at the age of 85, RTVE reported in a statement.
RTVE has expressed its condolences in a tweet collected by Europa Press: “From RTVE, the home to which he has been associated throughout his professional career, we send a hug to his family and loved ones.”
Graduated from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, where he began his teaching career and was vice-dean of the Faculty of Information Sciences between 1980 and 1981, and taught at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra from 1992 to 2009, where he promoted the studies of audiovisual communication .

He received an Ondas Award for directing ‘Salomé’, the Talent Award from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, the Miramar d’Honor award from RTVE and the Creu de Sant Jordi.
