Rayden presents this Wednesday in Murcia his first novel, ‘The approach of the cactus woman and the balloon man’

Date:

The writer, singer and music producer will give a short acoustic concert

The writer, singer and music producer David Martínez Álvarez, better known as Rayden, presents this Wednesday his first novel, ‘The approach of the cactus woman and the balloon man’, published by the label ‘Suma de Letras’, of the Penguin publishing house Random House. The event will take place at the Cultural Hall of the Cajamurcia Foundation in Murcia (Gran Vía, 23), at 6:30 p.m., with free entry until full capacity is reached.

After commenting on his new work and his debut as a novelist, Rayden will give a short acoustic recital accompanied by a guitarist. The novel, which is titled one of the rapper’s songs, “is a hymn to the value of what is different; a luminous love story between opposites that attract, without toxic relationships,” assures the author, who thanks the cactus woman and the balloon man for bringing positions closer. “In a world where everything else is considered impossible, I’m on the side of the unlikely who dares,” he explains.

Lyrical, with a strong punch, like a rap that finds its way into a society that fascinates and disturbs it, it is above all a typical romantic novel, one of those of a boy meets a girl with a happy ending, with edges that others hurt, protagonists from different angles and clouds that save them. But on the way to the happy ending, the author puts his finger in the eye, refusing to see that some stories have much more to offer. And instead of taking you by the hand to heaven, he takes you to a roof from which you can see human relationships. Then it launches you out so that you know the vertigo of a heart in search of what they call love and it has a thousand shapes,” the editorial says.

David Martínez Álvarez, Rayden, born in Alcalá de Henares (1985), has a long career as a writer, notable for the collection of poems Herido diario (2015) – recently revised in a revised edition with unpublished poems -, WE FINISH and others unfinished poems (2016), The world is a cat playing with Australia (2019), Cantinela: one hundred songs and ninety-nine alternate endings (2021) and Amoratado (2022). The rapprochement of the cactus woman and the balloon man is his debut as a novelist.
