Humor and laughter are guaranteed in ‘La Resistencia’. David Broncano and his team ensure that every program is funny and that both the audience and the viewers of the program on Movistar+ have to laugh when they see the events and jokes of each participant. However, there are times when the funniest moments come from the hands of the audience as they are equally witty and their intervention in the program can unleash laughter. Sometimes it happens voluntarily, because the viewers have prepared a joke or anecdote, but sometimes the joke happens quite unintentionally.

This is what happened in the last program of ‘La Resistencia’, at a time when David Broncano started working on it. I spoke to a boy from Seville, who was wearing a Betis jacket. In the conversation he involves two people sitting next to him, who come from Murcia. It all started when the presenter asked him to say a few words and he started by inviting them to the Benito Villamarín stadium. “But don’t talk about Seville anymore,” Broncano scolded him.

On the contrary, the popular presenter wanted him to say “something nice about Murcia”, although the viewer assured that he had never been. “Invent something,” Broncano encouraged him. While thinking about the answer, his partner was encouraged by mentioning Cartagena, something that made the audience laugh because of the classic competition between Murcia and the port city. After this paragraph, still under the pressure of the cameras, the young man was encouraged to reply, “The Dead Sea, right?”

Given the confusion of the answer, Broncano wanted to clarify: “Did you call the Mar Menor, the Dead Sea?” he asked between laughs. The entire audience burst into laughter as the young man accepted his confusion and took it with humor, “I killed them,” he laughed. The presenter did not hesitate to continue the joke and make a veiled attack on the Murcians present in the room: “He accidentally destroys you, which is even worse because he has no bad intentions and blows you up anyway,” Broncano argued .

Despite the involuntary ridicule or ‘insult’ from this viewer of ‘La Resistencia’ who was somewhat geographically clueless, the Murcians in the audience took it with great humor and did not hesitate to join in the laughter with the rest of the audience . Because it is clear that in the Region of Murcia, knowing how to laugh at ourselves is a reality and a virtue.
