Culture supports the presence of artists from Murcia at ARCO

Date:

Double the support to encourage the presence of galleries on forums and research projects

The Autonomous Community, through the Institute of Cultural Industries and the Arts (ICA), collaborates with the galleries of the region to promote the promotion of Murcian artists in various fairs, such as the ARCO 2023 international contemporary art fair, which will be held in Madrid until this Sunday.

The galleries of the region promote eight contemporary artists from the community in this professional gathering, namely Sonia Navarro, Miguel Fructuoso, FOD, María Carbonell, Lorenzo Sandoval, Javier Pividal, Ana Martínez and Sergio Porlán.

The Secretary General of the Ministry of the Presidency, Tourism, Culture, Youth, Sports and Spokesperson, Juan Antonio Lorca, and the General Director of ICA, Manuel Cebrián, visited the stands of the T20 and Art Nueve galleries, present at ARCO.

After the visit, Manuel Cebrián emphasized that ICA’s support for plastic and visual arts has doubled this year, with two new appeals, for a total value of 60,000 euros. One was aimed at promoting the presence of galleries in specialized forums, worth €30,000, and the second at financial support, worth €30,000, aimed at professionals for the development of research, training, production and exhibition of their creations. The conditions that galleries must meet in order to benefit from this support can be consulted in the Official Gazette of the Region of Murcia.

As for the new scholarships for professionals, they are aimed at artists who are in an intermediate stage of their career, with an objective trajectory of high and innovative artistic production and who must have carried out at least one individual exhibition outside the territory. Regionally in a public or private institution. The application deadlines and requirements can also be consulted in the decision published in the BORM.

Manuel Cebrián indicates that “the promotion of cultural consumption is an essential part of the ICA’s strategic plan for this year, which is why we will continue to support them through the call for help, because the importance of art galleries in the sector makes a decisive contribution to the consumption of art and the creation of opportunities to generate trade” in the Region.
