Kenneth Branagh breaks record as Belfast gets seven nominations in seven categories –

Judi Dench and Kieran Hinds also star in Brana Belfast

Kenneth Brana Belfast received seven Academy Award nominations in seven categories this afternoon.

The nominees were announced live today, led by Tracy Ellis Ross and Leslie Jordan.

The black and white film, inspired by Sir Kenneth’s childhood in Northern Ireland, was an Academy Award favourite when it premiered at film festivals last year, and it lived up to expectations.

The film received a total of seven nominations: Best Supporting Actor (Judi Dench), Best Sound, Best Original Screenplay (Kenneth Branagh), Best Supporting Actor (Karan Hinds), Best Song (“Down to Joy” Van Morrison, Best Director) Kenneth Branagh) and the Oscar’s Most Popular, Best Picture.

Among the film’s successes, Kenneth Branagh broke a new Oscar record personally. He is the first person to receive seven nominations in seven different categories during his career.

In the Best Picture category, you’ll encounter Belfast Coda, Don’t Look Up, Drive My Car, Dune, King Richard, Pizza Licorice, Robot Nightmare, Power Dog and West Side Story.

Ciaran Hinds will face Kodi Smit-McPhee from The Power Of The Dog and co-stars Jesse Plemons and Troy Kotsur for Koda and JK Simmons for Being The Ricardos.

Elsewhere, Mrs. Judy was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her roles as Irish Miss Jesse Buckley in Missing Daughter, Ariana Deboss in Western History, Ounjanu Ellis in King Richard, and Kirsten Dunst in “Dog Power”.

Van Morrison is nominated for Billie Eilish (No Time to Die), Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, Darius Scott (King Richard), Lin-Manuel Miranda (Incanto) and Diane Warren (Four Happy Days).

In the Best Original Screenplay section, Kenneth Branagh was nominated for Movies Not Looking (Adam McKay and David Serotta), Licorice Pizza (Paul Thomas Anderson), King Richard, and The Worst Man in the World.

In the Best Director category, he will face Paul Thomas Anderson (Liquorice Pizza), Jane Campion (Dog Power), Steven Spielberg (West Side Story) and Drive My Car (Ryosuke Hamaguchi).

In the Best Sound category, Belfast will compete with Dune, No Time to Die, The Power of the Dog and West Side Story.

The Oscars will take place on Sunday, March 27th.
