Kalush Orchestra, Amanda Tenfjord and Subwoolfer, three of the favorites, will compete for the Crystal Microphone on Saturday
It is one of the favorites and in the first semifinal it confirmed that the Kalush Orchestra can take the third Crystal Microphone for Ukraine next Saturday. The six members of the band were by far the most cheered and praised by the thousands of people who packed the Pala Alpitour in Turin on Tuesday night. And they did not disappoint on the shelves. They demonstrated all the power of their ‘Stefania’, with that mix of folklore and hip-hop, traditional costume and breakdance. An overwhelming staging that placed them in the final along with Norway, Greece (other favourites), Switzerland, Armenia, Iceland, Lithuania, Portugal, Moldova and the Netherlands. The second semifinal will take place on Thursday and the order of appearances will be determined on Friday.
A first cut in which the most intimate songs have dominated, such as the Portuguese Maro, the Dutch S10, the Armenian Rosa Linn or the Greek Amanda Tenfjord, who took the fifth place from Chanel in the bookies with her ‘Die Together’ towards the final victory. On the other hand, three exceptions: the Ukrainians, the Norwegian wolves and the Modavos. The latter, Zdob şi Zdub, together with Frații Advahov, turned the Piemontese hall into a real party thanks to ‘Trenulețul’. Energetic rhythms, without a second of rest, also with rhythms from Eastern Europe. And the masked Subwoofer, with their catchy ‘Give That Wolf A Banana’, had the fans dancing. Of course without removing the yellow masks.
Among the surprises of the evening were the absences in the Eurovision 2022 final of Albania (Ronela Hajati with ‘Sekret’) and Austria (LUM!X feat. Pia Maria with ‘Halo’) omitted at a gala presented by Laura Pausini, Mika and Alessandro Cattelan and where a small tribute to one of the greatest Italian artists: Raffaella Carrà should not be missing.
