“In the networks, nothing happens to a dead child on the shore, but a female nipple seems violent”
He had the flower of life tattooed on his solar plexus before he knew its meaning. “I’m still guided by intuition and that’s what I love about myself.” María del Mar Rodríguez Carnero, born 47 years ago in Malaga, has been the Mari of Chambao for two decades. He was preparing his new album when he discovered that twenty years had passed since the first… So he decided to celebrate with the XX Anniversary tour.
-How do you see the María del Mar from twenty years ago?
– I look better now, look at you. It’s not that I’m free from doubts and the occasional fear, but it’s that before I thought my head was more involved. We worry about a lot of things that in over 90% don’t happen. What the song “There you are” said: «Let yourself be carried away by sensations, so that bad passions do not occupy your life».
– Did it take you 20 years to apply the story?
– That’s what they say at the blacksmith’s house, a wooden knife, ha, ha, ha… But no. Life doesn’t weigh me down. It’s not hard for me to live it, on the contrary, I love it. Now I’m going lighter because I’ve removed layers. The philosophy of less is more suits me well.
– What are you paying attention to?
-To music, sports, helping, my family, loving, taking care of my two puppies, moving forward in life and applying what I studied at Pepe Cabello’s Diamond Building, because I have a master’s in two years in emotional intelligence, coaching and neurolinguistic programming .
– Does your country go straight?
– I don’t know if it’s right, left or centralized. I live in a free Andalusia. I try to live and let live who I have next to me. It doesn’t matter who rules you, if you want a better world, it starts with you.
I think her father called her a gazelle. Has knowing how to run help you much?
I’m not one to run away. My mother told me that as a little girl the narrow and dark streets were very scary. One day my grandfather told her that if she was scared she should stop and look straight at what scared her and she would realize it was nothing. And that’s right, when you face fear, it’s nothing in the end.
– Was this how you behaved when you were diagnosed with breast cancer?
-The one with the tumor was the lottery of life. I had a cancer that was being studied and given specific treatment. I asked my oncologist if I was going to die and he said, “Not of this.” But fear I’ve spent enough.
– He showed his chest on a record cover. Do you agree with Rigoberta Bandini?
-In my case, it was a way of saying that challenges are taken bare-chested. I don’t know Rigoberta. When we talk about social networks, nothing happens when you see a dog with its throat slit on top of a tree or a child dying by the sea. However, a woman’s nipple seems very violent to them.
– Are you afraid that the president of the government is being spied on?
– Is that what people talk about? How is the patio… With things that are so important, like breathing and listening to each other. And listen to yourself.
-Are you afraid of being spied on? Do you have many secrets?
I’m not afraid of being spied on. I carry the secrets I have inside, they are not on my mobile but in my head and in my heart.
