Dance. Thirteen dancers from Loly Escribano Academy represent Spain at Disneyland with a show of ‘Aladdin’

Nerves are on edge, as are emotions. “It’s a dream,” says Carmen, who at the age of 14, like Amelia, wants to devote herself professionally to dancing. With eyes full of emotion, he says that he has been at the academy for many years – a third of his life – and that ‘it is very important to me’. His feelings are shared by his 12 traveling companions, between 9 and 15 years old, who started this dream more than a year ago, under the guidance of the director of the Loly Escribano Academy, from La Alberca (Murcia), and their teacher Esmeralda Torres. adventure by appearing at Disney Performing Arts’ annual casting call to enter their magical world.

Said and done. “It has been a very long process and we have had to go through a lot of filters, but as far as I know we are the first academy in the region of Murcia to represent Spain at Disneyland Paris,” she says proudly. and charged with the responsibility “for equal parts” Loly.

On the stage of the Frontierland theatre, the largest in the Paris theme park, the thirteen dancers bring the magic of the ghost ‘Aladdin’ from the Murcian neighborhood of La Alberca to the European heart of Disney.

Loly Escribano and Esmeralda Torres choreographed five of the songs from “Aladdin,” “which will be played in Spanish” – “El Rey,” “A genial genius,” “Friend like me,” “An ideal world and ‘Principle Ali’ – which will bring urban dance, sprinkled with classic steps, touches of jazz, contemporary and modern, to the main stage at Disneyland on July 2nd.

It will be delivered twenty minutes with which they will crown one and a half years of work. “A prize”, says Silvia, “the candy of the group”, who already enjoys the honey to meet Mickey and Minnie Mouse, travel by plane for the first time and also dance in Paris. “They were going to give me the trip to Disney for my First Communion and I’ve already taken advantage of it,” he replies with a smile from ear to ear.

Not only Adriana, Amelia, Carmen, Paula, Eva Clara, Silvia, Arienne, Cristina, Rafa and Sandra raise their feet every time they think of the journey they will take on July 1. It is also a dream come true for Loly and Esmeralda. “My father, a set designer, took me to Disneyland when I was little and we saw Mickey’s show, it was amazing,” she recalls. So she thought she would have liked to work there as a dancer. “Also to my father. And look where, now I can dance there. It’s a pity that my father can’t see me because he can’t travel anymore,” he says wistfully.

Now they have the final push, an effort with the best rewards, to finish and perfect the dances before showing their big smiles to the audience in Paris.
