A man dressed as a woman attacks ‘La Gioconda’ with a cake

Date:

The person entered the Louvre in a wheelchair, where he hid the candy as he passed security checks

A man disguised as a woman, wearing a wig and in a wheelchair, threw a cake at Leonardo da Vinci’s portrait of ‘La Gioconda’, on display at the Louvre in Paris. The painting is protected by armored glass and is therefore not damaged.

Museum visitors who witnessed the incident reported that “a man dressed as an old lady” got up from a wheelchair and threw the candy. The museum itself has explained that the person in charge managed to approach the work “by mimicking a disability” and thus taking advantage of the larger margin allowed for people with reduced mobility, the French press reports.

The attacker “threw the cake against the glass and scattered roses everywhere before being stopped by guards,” said a witness. “Think of the planet. There are people who are destroying the planet. Think about it. That’s what I did,” he said in French while being scaled down, according to the recording of a video broadcast on social networks.
