Els Joglars will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award during the competition, which will take place in September and October
The painter Pedro Cano (Blanca, 1944) is the author of the poster announcing the 53rd Molina de Segura International Theater Festival, organized by the Molina de Segura City Council, which will take place in the months of September and October 2022. The Mayor of the city, Eliseo García Cantó, accompanied by his counterpart from Blanca, Pedro Luis Molina Cano, and Pedro Cano himself, presented the poster in the theater. Also present were the Councilor for Culture, Soledad Nortes Navarro, and the director of the event, Juan Francisco García Saorín.
Shortly before that, at the invitation of the Foundation for Medical Studies Molina, the artist from Blanca offered a lecture for secondary school students from the region under the title ‘From theater to theatre’. And he also signed several catalogs for the teachers who accompanied the students during their visit to the Villa de Molina Theater. The law was chaired by the Minister of Education, Mabel Campuzano.
Throughout his career, the artist has had a number of rewarding experiences related to theater. In the late 1980s, he agreed to be responsible for the set design of Brecht’s ‘Galileo Galilei’, which was directed for the Rome Theater by Maurizio Scaparro, with whom he also worked, notably designing the costumes , in the stage adaptation of Yourcenar’s acclaimed montage of ‘Memorias de Adriano’.
As early as 2020, Nacho Vilar Producciones released the documentary ‘Pedro Cano. Paint the journey’ at the Teatro Circo de Murcia (TCM). A year later, the theater production under the title ‘Pedro Cano’ took place in the Teatro Romea in April. Paint the journey’, an intense journey through the painter’s travel books, directed by Jorge Fullana and also produced by Nacho Vilar.
On the other hand, the Roman Museum-Theatre of Cartagena showed its ‘Theaters’ project, sixteen large watercolors that tour major stages in Egypt, Libya, Turkey, Syria, Greece, Jordan, Italy and Spain. This year ‘Teatros’ traveled to Milan -it was on display at the Museo della Permanente until May 22nd- from where it will start a tour of other Italian cities.
García Saorín has announced that this year the celebration of the I Campus of Young Theater is being considered, which will take place from 4 to 8 July. On the occasion of the 60th anniversary, Els Joglars will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award, presented by the Association of Friends of Theater Villa de Molina. The program will be announced in July.
