Jacob Collier, the ‘enfant terrible’ of jazz

This British multi-instrumentalist is considered the enfant terrible of jazz, with melodies that transcend this genre and fuse elements of different styles. The voice of this 27-year-old singer went viral in 2012 thanks to YouTube. His split-screen home videos blew up the algorithm, featuring versions of Stevie Wonder or Michael Jackson. In fact, shortly after he signed with the company of Quincy Jones, producer of the legendary album ‘Thriller’, of the King of Pop. Contributions of Collier’s many musical inspirations around the world can be found on these songs, from a cappella groups and gospel choirs to African legends and indie rock stars. Collier has won three more Grammy awards with this new musical project, with a total of five awards. He is the first British artist to win at least one Grammy for each of his first albums. He’s already a star, even co-starring with We Are King on one of the songs on Coldplay’s latest album, “Music of the Spheres.”
