Wet dreams: are memories deceptive?

Date:

Sociologist and sexologist Barbara Rothmüller this time about nocturnal orgasms and memory problems.

Some experience it regularly since childhood. Others only if they haven’t had sex for a long time. About half of the population is known to have an orgasm during sleep. Probably more, because we often don’t remember our dreams.

Nighttime orgasms are nothing to be ashamed of, emphasizes Katharina, a young woman who shares her erotic dreams: “If I don’t masturbate for a while and don’t have an orgasm, I get wet dreams, so I skip it every now and then. the masturbation to have a wet dream. These are the best! I’ve had wet dreams with celebrities, my crushes from school and even my girlfriends even though I’m not a lesbian.”

Men’s wet dreams leave a trail, a kind of evidence of nocturnal orgasm. But what about women’s erotic dreams? Without wet evidence, memory is deceptive. Was it even a physical orgasm or was she just dreaming about it? Research shows that dreams can physically increase women’s arousal to the point of climaxing. Corresponding clitoral body changes were measured during sleep orgasm. So women can certainly rely on their memory: it is likely that they actually fell asleep.

Even people who have trouble orgasming while awake can climax while asleep. That is interesting. Because it shows how much our consciousness can inhibit our lust. Stupid, even if you wake up for the happy ending.
