Parents will be reminded that the application portal for nursery and primary school locations in Northern Ireland will open in a few days from September 2022 to June 2023.

Just five days after the first applications opened for the next academic year, the Education Authority (EA) released information on key dates for the schools’ admissions process.

All schools/playgroups have acceptable standards. If they get more applications than the seats they have available, they use certain criteria to determine who is offering them seats.

Before you begin filling out your child’s application, you should carefully read the eligibility criteria for each kindergarten/primary school that you want to prioritize.

You must complete the application with all relevant details of how your child meets the kindergarten/school admission criteria.

Online applications will open on Monday January 10, 2022 at 12 noon and close on Friday, January 28, 2022 at 12 noon.

Seats are not reserved on a first-come-first-served basis. Schools and playgroups will not consider applications until the closing date.

It is important that you do the following:

  • Find a kindergarten/school in your area.
  • Read the eligibility criteria.
  • Check the required supporting documents.
  • List at least four advantages of the app.
