Masked men fired a pistol in a closed residential area in Derry, a video circulated online.
A demonstration of the force took place in the Bogside area of the city.
It is believed that this happened Friday evening (April 8) in the Doro Park area, where officers conducted a search.
It is known that several items have been removed and brought for examination.
Derry City and Straban Police Superintendent Clive Petty said the incident was “a shameless and dangerous act conducted under cover of darkness”. He added: “It is unacceptable to see armed and masked men on the streets of this city. It was a horrific display of disgust on the part of the company leaders. There is no justification for it.” The public can trust that we will continue to work with local communities and our paramilitary crime-fighting partners to prevent those involved in such these crimes and minimizing the harm they inflict on our communities.”

Meanwhile, Kelly, chief inspector of the paramilitary task force, said: “We are investigating this incident and call on anyone with information to contact us. We particularly want to hear from everyone who witnessed the incident.”
