Public service broadcasters have good journalists, but leadership and control are woefully weak. Now the largest media body in the republic is more rotten than rotten. Politicians and their willing servants are to blame for this, says political columnist Claus Pándi.
Roland Weißmann, managing director of ORF, informed the Supervisory Board on Friday about the biggest financial crisis in the broadcaster’s history. In his statement, Weißmann described the ORF as the “glue of society”. The choice of words is an involuntary statement of revelation.
