Belfast City Airport has announced that it will launch services with Emerald Airlines, the exclusive operator of Aer Lingus Regional, in the UK later this month.

In January, Emerald Airlines announced its new routes from Belfast:

  • Birmingham
  • Edinburgh
  • Exeter
  • Glasgow
  • Leeds Bradford
  • Manchester

Customers can now book flights to these locations and accumulate Avios on all regional Aer Lingus flights, ensuring continuity and utility of the ongoing services offered by Aer Lingus and British Airways at Belfast Airport.

Prices start from 36 to 36.99, and the first phase of service begins on March 24 in Birmingham.

Flights to Edinburgh, Leeds Bradford and Manchester will start on March 27, and flights from Belfast to Glasgow and Exeter will start in early May 2022.

Emerald’s commitment to Northern Ireland ensures the continuation of regional flights formerly operated by Aer Lingus and British Airways.

Customers will continue to enjoy all the benefits of the codeshare agreement with Aer Lingus and British Airways Emerald Airways.

Commenting on the announcement, Emerald Airlines CEO Conor McCarthy said, “We have already announced our services connecting Belfast to Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Leeds Bradford and Exeter Airlines.

“We want to be the airline of choice for customers traveling to and from Belfast Airport, and with today’s announcement, we’re in a good mood to get there. Major trends and prices in the near future.”

Reed Moody, Head of Strategy and Planning, Aer Lingus, said: Today is another important day for Aer Lingus Regional Services – good news for customers and good news for Northern Ireland. Aer Lingus looks forward to working with our partners Emerald Airlines on Aer Lingus’ future regional operations.

The new routes are the result of a long-standing partnership between Belfast City Airport and Emerald Airlines.

Matthew Hall, CEO of George Best Belfast City Airport, said: “This is great news for Northern Ireland and comes at a time when we are seeing increased demand for travel as we return to the unrestricted Covid life.

“The Aer Lingus regional product is a familiar product to our customers and we are pleased that flights can be booked on both Aer Lingus and British Airways for added convenience.

“We are grateful to our partner airlines for staying connected during the pandemic, and we now look forward to launching our long-standing partnership with Emerald Airlines, which offers significant opportunities for additional routes and frequencies.
