How should turquoise-green proceed?

Date:

Another stray email shakes up the political world. Two lessons can be learned from this. Firstly, that our politicians would benefit from a computer driving license. And secondly: that turquoise-green cannot continue like this!

Yes, this finding can be harsh. But at the latest if you secretly plan a U-committee against your own coalition partner, the peace-and-joy consensus is over. From now on, no one has to convince us that turquoise green still works. Nobody believes that anymore!

That’s how it works in the coalition
The allegedly misdirected email reveals what is going on within this coalition. Apparently, according to the attached draft, the Turquoises were preparing a commission of inquiry – including against the Greens! The suspicion: several “non-transparent events” related to advertising measures would have taken place. Not only the agency of Lothar Lockl, who is close to the Greens, must be investigated, but also the controversial ‘climate tattoo’ campaign of Environment Minister Leonore Gewessler.

Coalition is only kept alive artificially
The fact that you are planning a U-committee against your own coalition partner without causing an acute scandal is an exciting insight into the good cooperation that is always claimed. Apparently the best of both worlds no longer exists. It seems that both just want to keep this coalition alive artificially. After all, new elections would not be useful for either of them. The survey results currently do not show this!

Unity on the outside, hacking on the inside
Still, it would be fairer to end this coalition if people are no longer satisfied with the way they work together. Even though the ÖVP is currently trying to downplay the leaked design: that is a breach of trust! To the Austrians’ advantage, the only option is to join forces or pull the string despite the upcoming election campaign. Unity on the outside, but hacking on the inside is just questionable!

This will be the mother of all election campaigns
In any case, what should be clear from the past week is that this election campaign will be particularly nasty. Opinion pollster Christoph Haselmayer said a few weeks ago: “This will be the mother of all election campaigns.” Now it’s time to end on a warm note, because that’s probably how it will go.
