Last month, the Basque government authorized the transition to the third-degree prison for six ETA prisoners. At the beginning of this month, it was learned that the regional government had awarded five third degrees to prisoners Zigor Orb, santiago vincent, Aitor Herrera, Igor Martinez de Osaba Y Lierni Armendaritz. Subsequently, the Basque government also agreed to grant the regime of semi-freedom to: Juan Carlos Subijana.
With this they are 23 the third degree in which the Basque government has given the green light with the permission of the Prison Treatment Councils, as it took responsibility for the management of prisons in the Basque Country on October 1, 2021. The rankings are made in seven batches.
When approving the rankings, the Basque Directorate and the Treatment Councils take into account that the prisoners broke away from the organization, rejected violence, acknowledged the pain caused, accepted the prison law and paid civil liability.
The prosecutor then proceeded to analyze the cases and in fact resorted to that of Joseba Arregi Erostarbe, who was ratified by the Basque government in February.
