EAJ-PNV spokeswoman Estefanía Beltrán de Heredia will demand that the shock measures be accompanied by more far-reaching decisions, “because otherwise they will not cease to be indirect and insufficient”.
Euskaraz irakurri: Energia aurrezteko neurriek markatuta egingo da gaur Senatuan Sanchezen and Feijooren arteko aurrez aurrekoa
Marked by inflation and concerns about energy resources, the Senate will hold a eye in eye that has raised special expectations, those of the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, and those of the PP leader, Alberto Núñez Feijóo. The rest of the parties will also join in, but they will remain in the background.
The President of the Spanish Government will appear to explain the energy-saving measures. For his part, Feijóo is expected to react and squeeze Sánchez. In the current face-to-face, so more than the content of the debate, both leaders will measure forces.
This energy debate was claimed by the chairman of the PP, but the first response from the government of Spain was to refer to the Senate scrutiny sessions. Finally, Sánchez accepted the challenge and last week asked to appear in the Senate to “report on the energy saving and management plan and the territorial perspective, as well as the economic and social context.”
Therefore, the debate is not limited to the decree law on energy-saving measures already voted in Congress, but rather includes the design of that emergency plan which the Sánhez government should send to Brussels, as well as an analysis of the country’s economic context.
Feijóo has said that this meeting could serve to open a negotiation, but has criticized the time limit, as Sánchez will have no time limit, while each faction will have 15 minutes.
Over the weekend, Feijóo prepared the debate with energy and economics experts; it will put the package of proposals from the PP on the table; to start with, the extension of the VAT reduction on gas and electricity during the winter, until March.
For his part, Sánchez wants to take advantage of the debate to turn the polls around. He kicked off the political year by inviting citizens to Moncloa, explaining that the government’s priority is to listen to people’s concerns in the face of an opposition that, in his words, is “trying to sow fear” .
The PNV will demand that the shock measures be accompanied by more far-reaching decisions
Today we will also listen to the Basque groups in the Senate. Over the past few days, the PNV has lack of dialogue in the design of anti-crisis measures. The spokesperson for EAJ-PNV, Estefanía Beltrán de Heredia, will demand that the shock measures be accompanied by decisions by longest rangebecause otherwise they will not cease to be indirect and inadequate.
EAJ sees no planning of the different scenarios; a contrast analysis of the effects of each measure; a protection plan for the sectors most exposed to the rise in energy prices and the productive and industrial fabric. In this sense, it will convey that “it cannot be required, because of responsibility, that their decisions be fully supported where analyzes or proposals have not been shared in advance, nor that joint work is done on the design of the measures.”
Likewise, he will express his hope that this time the measures proposed by Euskadi for the contingency plan to be presented in Europe will be taken into account.
It will highlight the importance of preserving household income and mitigating the impact on businesses, both affected by the rise in energy prices.
