This is the only candidate who “really immerses himself in the population” and “engages” with them. Van der Bellen, on the other hand, is a “theoretician” and “unrealistic”. “He flees from the population,” Kickl says, “in real life there is no such thing anymore.” Rosencrantz also criticized the incumbent’s alleged lack of proximity: he had the impression that Van der Bellen only spoke to people “who have no problem paying their electricity bills or swallowing the increased price of milk or bread”.

‘Having to pay enough blood toll’
Rosencrantz is clearly committed to Austrian neutrality: “Neutrality is not only carved in stone, but also in granite in the Waldviertel”.
