Three more weeks – candidates in the final sprint for the Hofburg election

Date:

There are still three weeks until the Hofburg elections on Sunday 9 October. Until then, many media and other public appointments are still on the agenda for the seven candidates — from street election campaigns to church visits to book readings. krone.at provides an overview.

The incumbent Alexander Van der Bellen is currently busy traveling abroad. After his trip to Rome last week and attending Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral on Monday, the Austrian head of state will travel to New York on Tuesday. There he will participate in the UN General Assembly and give an interview in “ZiB 2”. After that, his team has planned another two weeks of campaign, in which Van der Bellen will tour Austria. Dates are planned in Lower Austria, Styria and Vienna.

Beer party boss and punk rocker Dominik Wlazny (“Marco Pogo”) has been touring the federal states since last Friday. The politician was in Klagenfurt, followed by Linz on Monday, Eisenstadt on Wednesday and Graz on Friday. In the next week, Wlazny plans to visit St. Pölten and Salzburg (both on Wednesday), Bregenz and Innsbruck (Thurs).

Brunner advertises for families
MFG chief Michael Brunner will attend the Innsbruck conference on Thursday. The next day he advertises for families and in the afternoon invites them to a “family gathering” in Vienna’s bohemian Prater, including “Punch and Punch and Judy for our little ones”. In the last week of September, Brunner plans to stay in Upper Austria, such as in Enns, Freistadt, Wels and Ried.

Election campaign on Kirtagen
FPÖ candidate Walter Rosenkranz and ex-FPÖ/BZÖ politician Gerald Grosz have so far attended trade shows to advertise for themselves. Both were already on display at the “Aufsteirern” in Graz. Rosencrantz announced next Saturday for the Ruperti Kirtag in Salzburg, on Sunday for the Kolmitzberger Kirtag in Lower Austria. Both he and Grosz also plan to attend Oktoberfest. Grosz is expected around Thursday in the Wiener Prater and at the “Brunner Wiesn” in Brunn am gebirge. He even thought of a tour in Munich.

Lawyer and ex-Krone columnist Tassilo Wallentin is going on a reading tour for his book Here and Now – How We Can Still Save Our Country, which will be published September 24. He will perform in Weiz (September 28), Salzburg (September 30) and Vienna-Meidling (October 6).

Shoe manufacturer Heinrich Staudinger has not yet given specific campaign dates. Like all the other candidates, he will also attend media events, for example at Puls 4 and ATV.
