“I’m practicing”: – Strange video: ex-NEOS boss as a street musician

Date:

Conversations with a tree, a message from Goa in India or in traditional costume as a techno yodeler: ex-NEOS boss Matthias Strolz has repeatedly attracted attention with bizarre appearances on the Internet after his political career. Now he has gone one step further. In one video he walks through the streets of Vienna singing. Will such a political comeback be successful and win over the electorate? What do you mean?

The background of his musical ‘sample’ (the quality is of course open to discussion)? “I practice – on every corner,” Strolz emphasizes in his humorous video. On Tuesday he took singing lessons.

Strolz with his musical “sample”:

“Back To Earth” tour: Strolz presents song from second album
Strolz also promotes himself in the strange video, especially since he will soon be on stage as part of his “Back To Earth” tour – together with musician Kurt Razelli (November 17 in Innsbruck and November 30 in Vienna). There he presents songs from his new album. The highlight is the single “Ich muss Siegen”.

In the video, the Vorarlberg resident plays a psychiatrist who listens to the dreams of a power-hungry dictator (played by Viennese Philipp Hochmair) – until, after violent statements (“I will slaughter you, you victim, you Nazi, you pig!”), blood spurts and people die. The clip has an age restriction.

The ex-politician had already released an album with Razelli five years ago, a mix of the 50-year-old’s strident and legendary parliamentary speeches and specially composed songs.

“Creative breakout”
The NEOS party founder first announced his new musical project in January with a humorous message from Goa, India. The ‘creative burst’ now culminates in a tour. His promise at the time: “We are going to spread a universal message there.” In March he presented himself as a techno-yodeler in a Vorarlberg costume.

Strolz wants to decide on a political comeback next year
In addition to music, the ex-NEOS boss is apparently considering a comeback in politics. “I’m fully booked until the end of the year, then I’ll take some time off in January. “Then we’ll see what happens next,” he said recently. The EU elections in June are still “too early”.

The Vorarlberg resident was co-founder of the Pinken. He was elected chairman at the founding convention in October 2012. Five years ago he retired from politics and Beate Meinl-Reisinger took over at NEOS. Stolz also currently works as an advisor to Viennese Deputy Mayor Christoph Wiederkehr.
