The date was agreed today by the Council of Spokespersons of the General Assemblies of Gipuzkoa. Everything indicates that the jeltzale Eider Mendoza will be appointed deputy general with the support of the PSE-EE and PP.
Once the Gipuzkoa General Assemblies are constituted, the next step is to elect the person who will take charge of the Provincial Council for the next four years, the date of which is set today: the June 29 it will be known who will take over Mark Olano at the head of the foral institution.
Except for last-minute surprises, everything points to the jeltzale Eider Mendoza is elected Deputy General with the support of the PSE-EE And PP. This was suggested by the support received last week by Xabier Ezeizabarrena (PNV) to be sworn in as President of Gipuzkoa’s General Assemblies. In addition to his group’s votes, he received 17 votes from the socialist junteros and 7 from the popular ones.
In the regional elections of 28 May, EH Bildu was the big winner in the General Assembly elections of Gipuzkoa, with 22 lawyers receiving 36.64% of the vote, five more than in 2019. The coalition led by Maddalen Iriarte got there nearly 15,000 more votes than Mendoza’s candidacy, which came in second with 32.64% of the vote. The jeltzales won 17 seats, three fewer than four years ago.
