The president (ERC) is alleging a “loss of confidence” in Vice President Jordi Puigneró for failing to give him advance notice of Junts’ threat to ask for a vote of confidence. Junts, who described the dismissal as a “historic mistake”, will meet with his supervisor this morning.

The President of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, announced at midnight his decision to dismiss the Vice-President of the Government and the Minister of Digital Policy and Territory, Jordi Puigneromaximum representative of Junts per Catalunya (JxCat) in the executive, due to “significant loss of confidence” in him.
Aragonès has appeared in the Gothic Gallery of the Palau de la Generalitat, after an extraordinary meeting of the government this afternoon, which lasted a little over two hours, and a subsequent meeting of more than three hours between the president and the general secretary of JxCat, Jordi Turull, at the Casa dels Canonges, the official residence of the Catalan president.
Before appearing before the media, Aragonès met – already in his office at the Generalitat – with Puigneró, to whom he personally communicated the decision to fire him.
The loss of confidence is due to the fact that last night Puigneró did not give him advance notice of Junts’ threat to ask Aragonès to submit to a trust issue, for which the president fired him and asked his JxCat partners a new name to replace it.
It’s a statement, JxCat has qualified the abandonment of “historical error” and has accused the government’s president, Pere Aragonès, of violating the government’s agreement.
Junts explained that he will meet with his Executive this morning (10am) “to address the political scene and” make the decisions who agree, always thinking of the progress and well-being of the Catalans and the achievement of independence as a goal”.
“The decision of the President of the Generalitat to dismiss him is a historic mistake that… endangers the continuity of the independence project‘ concludes the statement.
