After the operation – Doskozil is back with a budget speech

Governor Hans Peter Doskozil’s first public appearance after his surgery is when he goes to the microphone in the state parliament on Thursday morning. “I’m fine after my larynx surgery, the healing process is promising,” says Doskozil.

Internally, however, he has long since returned. The head of state had already taken office last week and on Wednesday he chaired the government meeting. For the time being, according to his cabinet, the governor is mainly focusing on internal working agreements.

The date for the first performance was not chosen by chance. Even before his operation, Doskozil had announced that he wanted to deliver the budget speech himself. This is also the first major focus of the session.

Criticism of taxes on wind turbines
The national budget is the first item on the agenda after Question Time. Another big piece is the controversial increase in the maximum charges for wind turbines and photovoltaic cells.ÖVP, FPÖ and the Greens criticized it again in advance and want the law to go back to committee.

According to ÖVP club president Markus Ulram, the SPÖ government is feeding already abysmal electricity prices with its project. “The fairness levy is a fair contribution from the big players, who are making huge profits from the crisis,” SPÖ club president Robert Hergovich countered.
