EH Bildu has appointed: Bakartxo Ruiz Y Unai Urruzuno spokespersons for the party’s political table, who have assured that “it is urgent to open an in-depth debate on tax reform in Euskal Herria”. “Need a new tax policy which collects more and better, in order to have decent public services and which guarantee a decent quality of life for the Basque citizens,” they defended.

EH Bildu’s general manager, Gari Mujika, announced the appointment of the two new political table spokespersons at a press conference in San Sebastián, explaining that from now on Ruiz and Urruzuno will be in charge of “speak on behalf of management” of the sovereign coalition.

In his speech, Ruiz felt there is a need to address the tax reform debate “of honesty and responsibility” in the current situation. “We live in times of uncertainty where citizens need tools to cope with the coming situation,” he insisted.

For example, he recalled that last week EH Bildu presented a welfare pact that “could be summed up in a decalogue of ideas on two fundamental issues: distribute the wealth generated fairly in this country and have enough public funds to be able to count on public services that guarantee decent living conditions for the Basques.” “Palliative measures are no longer valid, structural changes are needed,” he insisted.

Ruiz stated that the three Basque Provincial Councils and the Navarre Foral community “de sovereign tools to make different tax policies fairer and more equitableand he has warned that they don’t plan on going “through slipstream” although, as he has said, “we’re not starting from the same point”.

In this way, it has ensured that the fiscal policy of Navarra “it is more progressive than that of the CAV, thanks to the similarities of the forces of change”, but if we compare it with that of the state, “it is not among the fairest and most just”.
