The Polisario Front suspends its political relations with the government of Spain

In addition, he has a second requestthat of clarifying why the Spanish government believes that Morocco’s proposal for autonomy is “the only solution, the most realistic, serious and viable”.

According to the Polisario Front spokesman, this demonstration “breaks with the consensus that has existed for the past 46 years”, which falls within the search for a solution in accordance with the United Nations and under the resolutions of both the General Assembly and the UN Security Council.

He also assured that “Spain is distancing itself from international legality by betting on a unilateral proposal from Morocco, the power that has invaded and attacked the territory of Western Sahara for 46 years.”

Arabi warns that the situation in Western Sahara is a matter of unfinished decolonization and that “the only way to complete this process is by giving the Sahrawi people, within the framework of international law, the opportunity to decide what they want to become through a self-determination referendum.”

According to the Polisario Front, the legal framework includes independence as one of the options, “but we accept any other option that is considered an adequate and viable solution to the solution of Western Sahara,” he said.

Likewise, it has clarified that, despite the fact that the Polisario Front is not against good neighborly relations between Spain and Morocco, when it denounces that “Morocco tries to condition good relations with Spain at the expense of the legitimate aspirations of the Saharawi people “, for which it has relied on the Sánchez government to restore its support for the Moroccan autonomy plan for the former Spanish colony.

Likewise, he thanked the political forces, trade unions and the “broad and transversal movement of solidarity” towards the Sahrawi people “who have not stopped expressing their disagreement with this decision”.
