The agreement includes the extension of the five-year quota law under the same terms as until now. In that sense, Aitor Esteban has indicated that the Joint Concert Committee will be convened, which will probably be held before the 20th of next month.

The PNV will not amend the General State Budget (PGE) in its entirety after agreement has been reached on the renewal of the five-year quota law “in the same conditions and the same parameters” as the current one, which maintained the allocation rate at 6.24%. For this purpose, the Joint Concert Committee will be convened immediately, which will probably take place before November 20th.
The agreement was announced by the spokesman of the Basque group in Congress, Aitor Esteban, during a press conference at Sabin Etxea’s headquarters in Bilbao. In it, he reported that agreement has been reached on the extension of the five-year quota law.

The one still in force was the one signed for the 2017-2021 period. “We therefore began to enter a point of certain legal uncertainty as it was necessary to renew that law,” he noted.
The pact reached stipulates that “for the next five years a new law will be made in the same terms and parameters as the current one at the moment”, a rule reached with the then Minister of Finance, Cristóbal Montoro (PP). “It ensures adequate resources and is a fair distribution of the burden that both government departments have to bear,” he added.
In this sense, he has indicated that the Joint Committee of the Concert will be convened immediately, the celebration of which will probably be before the 20th of next month.
Esteban has assured that negotiations on many issues remain “open” and is confident that the talks could bear fruit “in the coming days” and announce “more political deals”.
