On Tuesday, the new black-and-red state government will be sworn in in Tyrol. With the exception of Anton Mattle and Josef Geisler, all state councilors are retiring politically. We rated their work.
Günther Platter (ÖVP): He never earned his reputation as a great doer. But as a reliable and excellent manager of the land, who has kept a clear and cool head even in difficult times. His solid budgeting over the past few years is a good example of this. Motto: Don’t live at the expense of others. He is also the undisputed professional in the government team, belongs to the category “think first, then speak”. There are some, especially in his party, who tend to do it the other way around.
Not infrequently, Platter took too much time or followed a zigzag course. For example, as far as Sebastian Kurz is concerned. Once “Hü”, ie to the left, then again “Hott”, ie to the right, and thus the opposite. Everything done right? Certainly not always, but certainly more often than less.
