The current Minister of Equality, Justice and Social Policy, Beatriz Artolazabalhas been proposed by the board of the PNV of Álava as a candidate for mayor of Vitoria-Gasteiz to the detriment of the current mayor, Gorka Urtaran.
However, the party leadership in Álava agrees that Ramiro Gonzalez elect for re-election as deputy general of Álava.
Now an internal election process begins so that the bases can vote on this proposal from the leadership. In the event that the decision of the Araba Buru Batzar (ABB) succeeds, Urtaran would be the only mayor of the three capitals of the Basque Country who will not repeat as a candidate, while Juan Mari Aburto will do so in Bilbao and Eneko Goia in Donostia -San Sebastian.
