Jeltzale’s leader says he proposed Beatriz Artolazabal as a candidate last week and convinced her in “half an hour”. He admits that the Intelligent Electric Bus (BEI) project has caused “tensions” in the city, but rules out that this is the reason for not proposing Urtaran.

The chairman of the ABB (Araba Buru Batzar) of the PNV, Jose Antonio Susochas underlined that his party “didn’t set aside” to the current mayor of Vitoria-Gasteiz, Gorka Urtaranafter he learned that the Jeltzales nominated the Minister of Equality, Justice and Social Policy of the Basque Government, Beatriz Artolazabal, as a candidate.
According to Suso, the ABB has “different destinies” for Urtaran, but both agree that he is “taking a step back” because he understands that a cycle must end: “He has been on the city council for 12 years and he is 48 years old. Taking him in for another four years meant not having the opportunity to hold other positions,” he argued.
In an interview with the “Vitoria Gaur” program on Radio Vitoria, the leader of Jeltzale revealed that it was last week when he proposed Artolazabal as a candidate, and that he convinced her in “half an hour”.
