“Right on track” – Kickl: Achieve what Haider failed to achieve

Date:

Herbert Kickl has taken good note of his FPÖ’s survey high. As reported, the blues rank first (25%) in Sunday polls nationwide (as OGM). “We are well on track for the upcoming National Council elections. It’s going as we planned it strategically. Our goal, with the help of the people, is to achieve what Jörg Haider failed to achieve – namely to lead a government in Austria,” the Liberal party chairman stressed on Monday.

According to Kickl, the aim is to appoint the chancellor after the next National Council elections. “I am delighted to see what all those who do not like it will do in the coming weeks and months to prevent this plan. I can only tell them that each of these attempts motivates me even more,” said the FPÖ leader .

‘Misconsidered corona policy has so far cost 46.5 billion euros’
As usual, Kickl launched a large-scale attack on the federal government in the press conference, but also on the opposition parties SPÖ and NEOS. He criticized turquoise-green for their policies on budget, corona, asylum and sanctions against Russia. The federal government’s misguided corona policy is said to have cost 46.5 billion euros so far. “This is money Austria doesn’t have,” Kickl criticized. As a result, Austria’s debt development is becoming increasingly negative. Kickl: “In 2023 we will have more debt again.”

Kickl: “Who takes responsibility?”
Measures such as lockdowns would have been pointless and the population had been lied to about the effectiveness of the vaccination. “The FPÖ was right from the start. And that closes the circle around the Sunday question.” Public frustration is mounting because no one is taking responsibility for this failure. Kickl sees no willingness to learn within the federal government, because the 2023 budget has already earmarked 1.2 billion euros for corona measures. “Of this, 300 million go back to the purchase of vaccines. There are still 20 million old vaccine doses lying around.”

Kickl also calls for an immediate end to sanctions against Russia. “The increase in inflation was greatly fueled by Austria’s neutral participation in the economic war against Russia in the energy sector, so that millions of people in this country are now fighting for survival because they no longer know how to afford everyday things.”

“Austria has the right to self-defense”
Kickl also spoke about a current asylum chaos in Austria. “Given the dimensions, one should speak of a population migration – with Austria as its destination. Since the ÖVP and the Greens came to power, almost 200,000 people have come to our country. That easily puts 2015 in the shadow,” Kickl warned. According to him, Austria has the right to self-defense.

“If the EU and other institutions are doing us more harm than good here, then this right should also apply in the area of asylum. The most crucial point is that no additional migrating peoples enter the country. That requires real border control and the prevention of illegal border crossings.” He also calls for the cessation of asylum applications and benefits. “Already 38 percent of minimum security recipients are entitled to asylum,” Kickl criticized.
